Description chris 2013-04-13 16:57:29 UTC
Make it possible to change the Default-filemanager. I can change Web/E-Mail/Calendar/Music/Video/Photo but not the default for the filemanager.

for example i dont want to use nautilus so i can easily change it via gui.
Comment 1 Matthias Clasen 2013-04-14 12:41:02 UTC
Where would this setting make a difference ? I don't think we have many (any?) places from where to launch the 'default file manager'. And adding a setting that has no effect would be confusing.
Comment 2 chris 2013-04-14 23:57:10 UTC
The setting should control the Filemanager which gets open if i open a folder (in the shell and on the desktop). so i can install an other filemanager like pcmanfm or thunar and integrate it in gnome.
Comment 3 Matthias Clasen 2013-04-15 00:31:30 UTC
How do you open a folder in the shell ? Honest question, I am just not aware of a place in the ui where we offer you to do that.
Comment 4 Bastien Nocera 2013-04-15 07:04:01 UTC
We won't be adding a file manager selection to the defaults app selection. The GNOME file manager is Nautilus, and there's no plans to make it configurable.

You can change it easily with:
gvfs-mime --set inode/directory yourfilemanager.desktop

I'll reassign this to gnome-tweak-tool, as that might be something they're interested in providing.
Comment 5 chris 2013-04-15 14:40:14 UTC
hm okey.
i cant realy understand where is the difference between the gnome-email programm and the gnome-filemamager (better why i can the one default change, the other not) but its your decision and if the tweak tool does this job its okey to me.

in addition to comment 3 .
For example the autostart of a Disc or USB Hdd -> "open folder".
