Description Matthias Clasen 2013-04-02 22:35:29 UTC
The message tray section talks about "Move your mouse to the bottom-right corner". Nowadays it should say "Push your mouse pointer against the bottom edge of the screen"

Patch for new way to activate message tray

Updated the page according to Matthias' comments.

Added a new screenshot according to mimico's comment in the page, and deleted the comment. I am not sure if the screenshot clarifies the position of the message tray. Please let me know if I have to update it.

Made changes to gnome-help/Makefile.am

I think you should generally do 1 task per commit. So split the work into 2 commits, this helps when someone wants to revert or refer back to the work.

Do reflow your paragraphs. I am unable to read any matter because they exceed the 80 cols limit.

Updated help on activating message-tray

Splitting commits according to Sindhu's comments.

Commit 1 : Updated help on changes to activating message-tray
Comment 4 Aruna Sankaranarayanan 2013-04-06 12:14:50 UTC
Actually, the second commit isn't part of this bug. So I have posted it in the appropriate bug : https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=697121

Thanks!

+
The message tray can be brought into view by moving your mouse pointer to
+the bottom of the screen and exerting pressure by keeping the mouse still for

"Exerting" implies physical pressure. "…by pushing your mouse pointer against the bottom of the screen or by pressing…" would be better.

Changes after Kat's review

I've made the changes. :)

Your
tag has inconsistent indentation after the section message-tray. Check for indentation consistency before you commit your work.
Comment 8 Sindhu S 2013-04-10 17:08:49 UTC
Oh it *was* inconsistent previously, I don't know if you wrote that. My bad, it's fine now.

Although "The message tray can be brought into view by pushing your mouse pointer
against the bottom of the screen" could be improvised to: "The message tray can be brought into view by placing the mouse pointer anywhere close to the bottom of the screen" Or "The message tray can be brought into view by placing the mouse pointer near the bottom edge of the screen".

The message tray now responds specifically to pressure against the bottom of the screen rather than just the location of the mouse pointer.
