GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 691846
language selection: use of ellipsis for "show all languages" isn't clear
Last modified: 2013-04-23 15:29:44 UTC
Created attachment 233587 [details] screenshot The ... that is used to expand the list isn't clear to me. It might be because we are using the text character, rather than an icon, but it looks a little broken. My suggestion would be to have something much more explicit, like a "Show all languages" button below the list.

This is what we used to do, until testing feedback came back and said that if we do that, foreign users can't read it. This was the new design, but I agree it's not clear enough. Maybe something like the standard "three dots with a background and border" that Gmail uses for long messages would be better?

Yeah, just realised that myself. > This was the new design, but I agree it's not clear enough. I just discussed this on #gnome-design and the idea came up of using go-down-symbolic. This seems clearer than three dots.
This bug has been fixed in gnome-control-center. There's a patch that can be cherry-picked. See bug 694927.
Created attachment 241846 [details] [review] Use view-more-symbolic for the "More" list item We've had some early reports that the ellipsis used to label the "More" item in some of the lists isn't clear. -- Let's sync this with g-c-c.
Review of attachment 241846 [details] [review]: OK.
