Description André Couto 2002-01-16 01:15:24 UTC
I can't move (drag and drop) a file from the desktop to current directory
at Nautilus when I'm using the "View as List" view. This is because there
is no place to drop the file icon at the Nautilus interface.

I don't know exactly what was the best solution for that, but I've thought
about these solutions:

    - The first is to create the . (and maybe the ..) "folder" (directory)
at the begining of every "folder" when using "View as List".

    - The second is to use the icon representing the current folder at the
left frame of the Nautilus window. Then if I drag a file from the desktop
and drop it at the icon I am moving it to the current "folder".

I echo this problem. You can drag on top of a file and it'll work, but
if the only thing that is visible is folders, your file ends up
disappearing into one of those.

This problem is totally theoretical right now, since drag and drop
doesn't work at all in the newly implemented list view. It is a
concern though.

Actually an obvious fix to this problem is to make the list view macos
list view like so that files can be dragged into the root folders.

With the drag destination code I just checked in, you can drag to the
headers in the list view to drop on the current directory (it's pretty
clear, with nice feedback and stuff) so I'm going to mark this FIXED.

(to clarify, you also drop in the current directory if you drop on
empty space or on a file that can't be dropped onto)
