GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 686968
Add a "Connect to Server" item in the sidebar
Last modified: 2013-02-13 00:55:19 UTC
The "Connect to Server" dialog has the following issues: * not very discoverable for me because it's in the Application Menu, and I've only ever opened the Application Menu once (to get to "Preferences"; all the other functionality I either don't use or I access via keyboard shortcuts). This is also covered by bug 686967 * after connecting to a server, you navigate and close it from an entirely different place: the side panel, under "Network" I think these issues could be fixed by integrating the "Connect to Server" functionality into the side panel under "Network". Beneath the "Browse Network" option and the list of connected servers, there could be an entry for "Connect to Server". Clicking this entry would open a modal dialog prompting for the server information, and once connected, the server's contents would appear where the modal dialog was, and the "Connect to Server" option would move downward one spot, its place being taken by the entry for the connected server Just a thought; this isn't a huge issue. I've used Gnome since 3.0 and didn't realize Nautilus had this functionality until now, though.
Retitling, since the first part of this is covered by bug 686967.
