GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 684649
Gimp 2.8 really slow: panning, scrolling, selecting, cropping, moving
Last modified: 2012-09-23 07:27:01 UTC
I just downloaded 2.8 and it is really slow compared with 2.6, specifically: @ scrolling canvas with scroll bars causes artefacts, usually copies of horizontal stripes being redrawn @ selection rectangles in Selection, Cropping, etc. lag the pointer quite markedly @ trying to resize selection rectangles is frustrating as the hotspot rectangle on a side noticeably lags the >|, etc. pointers @ attempting to draw with the Pencil tool is nightmarish as the pointer jerks around so much it is impossible to draw a smooth curve @ moving the image on the canvas is worst of all as you can see painful redraw strips proceeding slowly down the window ... and so on.
