Couldn't highlighting the correct brackets when editing php code

The gedit highting the ">" in the statement "$this->proc_year=date("Y");" as the paired bracket with the tag "<?php" at the begining of the code. Maybe gedit couldn't recognize the "->" operator and the "<?php ... ?> tag correctly.See the screenshot in the attachment.
