GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 684249
Signatures get compounded, not replaced
Last modified: 2013-09-13 01:09:05 UTC
Running Evolution 3.5.92. Handling of signatures when composing mails seems to be screwed up. When I change the From: address on the mail (hence changing the associated signature), or explicitly pick a signature from the Signature drop-down box, it doesn't *replace* the existing signature, but is *prepended* to it (added at the beginning). This just keeps going, apparently forever - right now I have a mail compose window open with ten signature blocks compounded below the separator...
Signatures also seem to be screwed up when doing replies. If I create a new mail from scratch, the signature is correct. My default account is my personal one with my personal signature, which is just 'adamw'. When I simply create a new mail, I get: -- adamw which is correct. But if I reply to a mail in such a way that my personal account is used, I get two of my personal signatures: -- adamw adamw If I reply to a mail sent to my @redhat.com address, I get two of my Red Hat signatures and one of my personal signatures: -- Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Twitter: AdamW_Fedora | identi.ca: adamwfedora http://www.happyassassin.net Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Twitter: AdamW_Fedora | identi.ca: adamwfedora http://www.happyassassin.net adamw

Do you need any more info on this one? I was kinda assuming it was an obvious no-brainer to fix for 3.6, but obviously that wasn't the case as 3.6 came out and still has this bug. Is it not happening to everyone? Do you need any more details about my config?
Turned out to be a typo in the signature HTML. Fixed for 3.7.1 and 3.6.1: http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/?id=d495e19945acbb5cce9eef4578103927569733fa http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/?h=gnome-3-6&id=1c691a12fde923987533f21b0ccd80598bcd03d6
