GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 682017
make view mode persistant to window, not folder
Last modified: 2016-03-13 14:18:19 UTC
We now have a nicely exposed view mode toggle on the toolbar. When traversing the hierarchy it feels wring the view changes. I think it makes more sense to relate the view mode to the window rather than the folder/location.

This one is a total head-scratcher, how can you guys think having the same view when browsing documents, pictures and downloads is helpful?
I also think that remember view setting per folder increases the utility of a file manager. For example, I prefer having my Downloads folder viewed as a list sorted by date and my picture folders viewed as big icons. An option for having Nautilus remember view settings per folder instead of per window, would be great.
