Description William Jon McCann 2012-05-04 18:31:22 UTC
I don't think it makes much sense to reuse the primary and secondary gradient colors as the matte color to go behind image wallpapers.

I propose we ignore them and just use black.

I'd also like to have a simple gray "noise" texture background tile for low bandwidth remote display environments.

Any reasoning behind the proposal?

Apart from the selection being odd there is a usability issue that came up in user testing.

1. The color selection is in the position that is normally used for a close or apply button and I observed a user try to use it for that

2. In the default scenario the color is completely invisible. I observed a user confused that the background did not change color based on her selection.

This is fixed by the background selection panel redesign in GNOME 3.6.
