GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 674135
seeking flash video needed in totem plugin
Last modified: 2012-04-16 09:39:05 UTC
In fedora 17, totem plugin is used for flash content. but seeking is not working with totem plugin. It would be really nice to have the capability of seeking a youtube/flash based video using totem plugin. As a hint: SMPlayer has this feature to seeking youtube/streaming videos. but smplayer do not have any plugin. thanks.
It's supposed to work, so give exact reproducer steps.
(In reply to comment #1) > It's supposed to work, so give exact reproducer steps. It works only with 'buffered' or 'downloaded' streams. Totem downloads the video and only allows seeking upto the downloaded part. say, totem downloaded 60% video it allows only upto 60% seeking; beyond that it won't allow. How to reproduce: 1. go to youtube 2. open a long movie (say 1 hour) so that whole video is not buffered (cached) 3. when the video starts playing, 4. click near the end of video say around 50 minute (seeking to play video from 50th minute) 5. Not possible with totem Expected behavior: 6. like flash player seeking and should happen where user has clicked 7. smplayer (can open youtube url) can seek to 'unbuffered' or 'uncached' timeline of streaming youtube videos; this should be integrated into totem for a smooth experience. thanks.
