Description rainman 2001-12-05 09:12:29 UTC
Package: nautilus
Severity: normal
Version: 1.0.4
Synopsis: Nautilus application launches need context
Bugzilla-Product: nautilus
Bugzilla-Component: general

Description:
When applications are launched in Nautilus, they need to be launched as
if from the folder that Nautilus is viewing at the time.

For example, if I'm in /home/rainman/Downloads and I double-click on a
tar-ball, and I have associated "gnome-terminal -x tar -xvf" with .tar
files, the tarball should be untarred into /home/rainman/Downloads.
Insteads it is untarred to /home/rainman.

Another example, say I'm running AGSatellite from
/home/rainman/AGSatellite0520. The executable creates data files if it
senses that they don't exist. They exist in /home/rainman/AGSatellite,
but when I double click on AGSatellite from Nautilus, they are spawned
in /home/rainman.

It's a good idea to do something like this.

We could cd to the directory of the displayed window, but there are
ways to open files without having a window open.

We could cd to the directory of the opened item, which will work as
long as we are opening only one item at a time.
