I opened my laptop today and opened Empathy. It showed that I was offline but I had contacts available.

Interesting, I didn't experience this bug since a while. Could be a GTK+, Empathy or Folks issue. Is Nick a meta contact in your roster?

Which version of GTK+ were you using? I'd be interested to know if it has the fix for bug #659022 in.
Comment 2 William Jon McCann 2011-10-13 20:42:34 UTC
gtk3-3.2.0-1.fc16.i686

I don't know if Nick is a meta contact. What does that mean?
Comment 3 Guillaume Desmottes 2011-10-13 20:54:16 UTC
A meta-contact is a linked contact from different sources. Right clicking on him and selecting 'Link contacts...' should show you the linked contacts.
