Thank you for your bug report.

The following line in the first log file means Banshee is already running :
Bus.Session.RequestName ('org.bansheeproject.Banshee') replied with InQueue

But the rest of this log file shows that the existing instance is not working
properly. I'm not sure how you got the second log file, did you just run
"banshee --debug" again ?

Could you try to find the Banshee process that is running and kill it ?
Then, before running banshee again, attach the log file here (it's
~/.config/banshee-1/log).

It would be great if you could try to figure out how to reproduce the problem
can, if it still happens.
Comment 3 CP 2011-09-06 16:31:55 UTC
hmm. seems i forgot to explain properly :)

(things have been forgotten, they may be wrong)

when using banshee normally, i was noticing that banshee was closing after a while, without me telling it to, usually when i was afk.
i found the --debug option, and used it from the terminal.
Whiel i was looking for this bug, (i think) i found the 'first backtrace', which i don't believe was fatal, but noticable
the '2nd backtrace' was the fatal one, that seems to be occurring regularly enough to notice (could be 1 song causing it?)

of course, both the backtraces may be interchangeable in this story :)

i will have a look for that log, and see if i can reproduce (accurately :) )
Comment 4 CP 2011-09-06 20:06:14 UTC
here's the log, although i'm not sure how useful it will be, as i haven't yet been able to reproduce, and i've used banshee several times since the last crash

i think i should mention, with the afk thing, it usually means that the program is 'minimized' (to panel, no open window)

Gotcha!

crash happened while running banshee --enable-debug, and while program was 'minimised' to top panel

Thanks for the information.

Can you tell us the version of mono you're using (run "mono --version" in a terminal)?

Can you upgrade to Banshee 2.2 to check if the problem is already fixed?
Comment 9 CP 2011-10-10 19:02:54 UTC
Mono JIT compiler version 2.6.7 (Debian 2.6.7-5ubuntu3)

i will upgrade and attempt to reproduce
Comment 10 CP 2011-10-10 19:04:37 UTC
in fact, why is 2.2 not on package manager-thingy?

That is a question that you should ask to the support channels of your distribution, as it's a packaging topic.
Comment 12 CP 2011-10-11 20:27:56 UTC
a problem.
i can't run 2.2 :L - it just crashes as soon as my list of files appears

This is actually a different issue, it's bug 660818. You can workaround this by disabling the UbuntuOne MusicStore extension.

Bug 662293 was reported against 2.2.0 so then I'm updating the version field of this bug, and removing the NEEDINFO status.

heidemannknut: can you tell us the version of Mono you have, by typing "mono --version" in a console? Thanks
Comment 18 heidemannknut 2011-10-20 13:40:30 UTC
I got:

Mono JIT compiler version 2.10.5 (Debian 2.10.5-1)

Knut

That last stacktrace shows it's the same issue as in bug #659841, so I'm marking this as a duplicate.

Thanks for the bug report. Please feel free to report any further bugs you find.
