GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 651574
[regression] Interactive search takes control over paste action when using Ctrl-V
Last modified: 2011-10-11 07:24:40 UTC
When copying or cutting a file (Ctrl-C or Ctrl-X) and moving it somewhere else in nautilus using Ctrl-V (not the Paste action under Edit menu), the Interactive search widget paste the path of the copied/cut document instead of letting Nautilus moving the file. You have to go through the Edit -> Paste action to be able to move the file. This is really annoying. Maybe related to Bug 517639
I can confirm this issue on one of my systems.
I have the same problem.............
I don't think this is related to bug 517639 as I've only started experiencing this recently (nautilus 3.0.2), and it happens at all times, even if I didn't have typeahead search shown.
I have the same problem.
Here too. I am using Fedora 15 with Gnome3/Gnome-Shell.
I have this problem, too. Gnome 3,Nautilus 3.0.2,Fedora 15.
Same problem... Gnome 3, Nautilus 3.0.2, Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty). Does someone know any way to fix that until the official fix release?
same problem here. i read somewhere that it helps if you set another shortcut for paste than ctrl+v but than again thats obviously not a serious option
Proposal: Raise priority of this bug, this is the main capability of a file-manager!
I see this too. Some info from: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=119987 It seems that the problem comes from the file ~/.gnome2/accels/nautilus where you can find two line for ctrl+v : gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/DirViewActions/Paste" and (gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/ClipboardActions/Paste" "<Control>v") . The problem being the second one. You can delete the entire file (or try just the line, I use to delete the directory accels without having any problem after), log out and log in again and it should work as expected (need to log out, nautilus -q is not enough). It works for me, even if I have to do it again some times.
@ Stewart Hardie -I deleted the nautilus file( ~/.gnome2/accels/nautilus) and restarted.Issue still exists. Now i am not able to paste at all.Again two entries in the file get created
Same issue here on Arch Linux x64 using nautilus 3.0.2. Anyway, I found something weird... if I go to "list view" and move through the file manager (arrow keys, mouse) ctrl c and ctrl v works ok. If then I turn back to "icon view" the issue re-appears. PS.- Sometimes I also have problem with F2 (rename) and it gets ""fixed"" in the same way I explained before... related or another bug?
it may be related to this commit, the list view had a patch to make shortcut work : http://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=f76c50a0e46aa7786820f76b3f71b57b44b8d7fb , while the icon view was not patched.
Такая же проблема с nautilus 3.0.2 в archlinux openbox , но так и не смог решить эту проблему
The same problem with nautilus 3.0.2 in archlinux openbox, but could not solve this problem
The weird think is, in most cases CTRL+X/C/V works on Arch, on Fedora mostly not.
at that time and again that I am not alone with this problem in ctrl+v ssykla to file into the Quick Search scr http://s005.radikal.ru/i209/1107/27/2355d162a658.png
Same here. But Pasting (with CTRL+V) works if you have enabled the list view.
Affects me as well on an up-to-date Arch Linux x64 system running Gnome Shell. Like others, Ctrl+v works as expected when in List view but not in Icon or Compact views. The workaround proposed in Comment 10 does not work for me. I second the proposal in Comment 9 to raise the priority - this is part of the core functionality of Nautilus!
I can also confirm this. Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 1 nautilus 1:3.1.4-0ubuntu5
@Ali Abidrahmani: Is this a fresh installation/new user-account?
@Peter Weber This is a fresh install, and I tested using the account ubiquity made(The Ubuntu installer),This doesn't always happen, but the time it does, you cant get it to work with Ctrl + V at all,you are forced to use Paste option. I found this affecting me trying to paste my backup files in HDD after the fresh install...
This should be fixed in git master now.
Thanks you! Can you post a link?
