Description Alexandre Demers 2011-05-31 20:31:58 UTC
When copying or cutting a file (Ctrl-C or Ctrl-X) and moving it somewhere else in nautilus using Ctrl-V (not the Paste action under Edit menu), the Interactive search widget paste the path of the copied/cut document instead of letting Nautilus moving the file.

You have to go through the Edit -> Paste action to be able to move the file. This is really annoying.

Maybe related to Bug 517639
Comment 1 Bart Verhoeven 2011-06-02 20:25:32 UTC
I can confirm this issue on one of my systems.
Comment 2 Mao Jianjun 2011-06-04 05:50:26 UTC
I have the same problem.............
Comment 3 Jean-François Fortin Tam 2011-06-04 21:47:46 UTC
I don't think this is related to bug 517639 as I've only started experiencing this recently (nautilus 3.0.2), and it happens at all times, even if I didn't have typeahead search shown.
Comment 4 legolas 2011-06-06 09:27:45 UTC
I have the same problem.
Comment 5 Peter Weber 2011-06-08 07:16:51 UTC
Here too. I am using Fedora 15 with Gnome3/Gnome-Shell.
Comment 6 babak 2011-06-12 10:43:05 UTC
I have this problem, too.
Gnome 3,Nautilus 3.0.2,Fedora 15.
Comment 7 Henrique 2011-06-19 15:33:51 UTC
Same problem...
Gnome 3, Nautilus 3.0.2, Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty).

Does someone know any way to fix that until the official fix release?
Comment 8 jano 2011-06-26 19:39:52 UTC
same problem here. i read somewhere that it helps if you set another shortcut for paste than ctrl+v but than again thats obviously not a serious option
Comment 9 Peter Weber 2011-06-27 08:22:20 UTC
Proposal: Raise priority of this bug, this is the main capability of a file-manager!
Comment 10 Stewart Hardie 2011-07-05 02:33:36 UTC
I see this too. Some info from:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=119987

It seems that the problem comes from the file ~/.gnome2/accels/nautilus where you can find two line for ctrl+v : gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/DirViewActions/Paste" and (gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/ClipboardActions/Paste" "<Control>v") . The problem being the second one.

You can delete the entire file (or try just the line, I use to delete the directory accels without having any problem after), log out and log in again and it should work as expected (need to log out, nautilus -q is not enough). It works for me, even if I have to do it again some times.
Comment 11 vazhavandan 2011-07-05 17:41:34 UTC
@ Stewart Hardie -I deleted the nautilus file( ~/.gnome2/accels/nautilus) and restarted.Issue still exists. Now i am not able to paste at all.Again two entries in the file get created
Comment 12 Pablo Olmos de Aguilera Corradini 2011-07-12 02:50:19 UTC
Same issue here on Arch Linux x64 using nautilus 3.0.2.

Anyway, I found something weird... if I go to "list view" and move through the file manager (arrow keys, mouse) ctrl c and ctrl v works ok. If then I turn back to "icon view" the issue re-appears.

PS.- Sometimes I also have problem with F2 (rename) and it gets ""fixed"" in the same way I explained before... related or another bug?
Comment 13 Pierre-Yves Luyten 2011-07-12 07:21:25 UTC
it may be related to this commit, the list view had a patch to make shortcut work : http://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=f76c50a0e46aa7786820f76b3f71b57b44b8d7fb , while the icon view was not patched.
Comment 14 Vadik 2011-07-16 11:33:19 UTC
Такая же проблема с nautilus 3.0.2 в archlinux openbox , но так и не смог решить эту проблему
Comment 15 Vadik 2011-07-16 11:34:00 UTC
The same problem with nautilus 3.0.2 in archlinux openbox, but could not solve this problem
Comment 16 Peter Weber 2011-07-20 07:28:13 UTC
The weird think is, in most cases CTRL+X/C/V works on Arch, on Fedora mostly not.
Comment 17 Vadik 2011-07-20 17:10:42 UTC
at that time and again that I am not alone with this problem in ctrl+v ssykla to file into the Quick Search

Comment 18 Garve 2011-08-15 10:43:24 UTC
Same here. But Pasting (with CTRL+V) works if you have enabled the list view.
Comment 19 Ryan S. Kingsbury 2011-08-29 22:54:11 UTC
Affects me as well on an up-to-date Arch Linux x64 system running Gnome Shell. Like others, Ctrl+v works as expected when in List view but not in Icon or Compact views.

The workaround proposed in Comment 10 does not work for me.

I second the proposal in Comment 9 to raise the priority - this is part of the core functionality of Nautilus!
Comment 20 Ali Abidrahmani 2011-09-04 06:59:40 UTC
I can also confirm this.
Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 1
nautilus 1:3.1.4-0ubuntu5
Comment 21 Peter Weber 2011-09-05 07:11:39 UTC
@Ali Abidrahmani:
Is this a fresh installation/new user-account?
Comment 22 Ali Abidrahmani 2011-09-05 07:55:04 UTC
@Peter Weber
This is a fresh install, and I tested using the account ubiquity made(The Ubuntu installer),This doesn't always happen, but the time it does, you cant get it to work with Ctrl + V at all,you are forced to use Paste option.
I found this affecting me trying to paste my backup files in HDD after the fresh install...
Comment 23 Cosimo Cecchi 2011-09-08 16:18:16 UTC
This should be fixed in git master now.
Comment 24 Peter Weber 2011-09-20 14:19:03 UTC
Thanks you!
Can you post a link?
Comment 25 Peter Weber 2011-09-20 14:27:18 UTC
