GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 651518
"Insert From..." command is not well defined
Last modified: 2018-07-16 10:13:59 UTC
The function performed by the "Insert From" command is not very clear. After trial-and-error, I determined that it inserts pages from a new document at the BEGINNING of the current document. However, I attempted to merge about 20 files (about 500 pages total), assuming that it would put every new "inserted" before the pages of the working file, but after saving the file I saw that the pages were not in the order I assumed. They were in some random order, which I am still unable to determine. Can you explain exactly how the "Insert From.." command works? A tool tip describing the exact function of the command is also necessary. PS: I looked at the Help file, but there was no information pertaining to merging documents/ inserting pages. I also noticed some language errors in the current file. If you would like, I can update the Help file and add more information to it. I'd have to do some research about editing help files, since I haven't done that before. But I would appreciated if you tell me where the file is located in the directory tree, and what software is best for editing such files.
Similar to Bug 655654 Insert command is indeed problematic. It says Insert Pages... but it inserts all pages from selected file. Fix: Add option of adding exact page numbers Preferred Fix: Make the + button open the selected file in a new instance of PdfMod from which we can easily drag & drop the pages WE WANT and WHERE WE WANT THEM. Note dragging & dropping a does this already (i.e. easy fix) but many people will not know about this. Thanks, Great simple & lightweight software!
I've got the same problem. Impossible to add a file at the end of another file. "Add" means adding at the end, not at the beginning.
I add a strange error when inserting a file into another. Some pages appears twice, three times or more after that.
pdfmod is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes in 2011. Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/pdfmod/commits/master Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
