Description Marco Túlio Gontijo e Silva 2011-03-28 16:53:07 UTC
When I press Ctrl+F during a presentation, it shows the search box but it doesn't show the search results.

I confirm this bug. It has been around for a long time.
Comment 2 Carlos Garcia Campos 2012-01-15 10:19:00 UTC
Search is not supposed to work in presentation mode, so the find bar shoudn't be displayed.
Comment 3 Carlos Garcia Campos 2012-01-15 10:28:40 UTC
Fixed in git master, findbar is not shown in presentation mode. Thanks for reporting.

Thanks. That reduces confusion.

But I'm not sure why search isn't supposed to work in presentation mode, since I frequently WANT to use it there. I have two uses for presentation mode:

(1) giving an actual presentation
(2) when reading privately -- it is like a convenient zoom level that mimics print reading

In both cases, I sometimes want to jump to another part of the document or slideshow.

I would like to ask that this bug be reopened as a feature request:

Please MAKE search work in presentation mode, for the reasons given above,
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=645976#c4 ,

and also because mode-specific restrictions should be avoided without a good reason as they are confusing and restrictive.

Should I submit it as a separate feature request?
Thanks!
