GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 643346
Reduce time required to print invoices
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:54:09 UTC
Created attachment 181961 [details] Chart of present and recommended procedure. I submitted several suggestions for invoice printing separately but put together a combined summary to show how these might work together to drastically reduce the time required to print invoices from 75 minutes for 80 invoices to about 45 seconds. I created a chart of the present process and my suggested process along with notes on how I think this could be implemented. I hope this is useful and of interest. Thank you, Luis Watts
Your proposals are good. However, the way the development process of gnucash currently works means it is much more promising to split up your proposed enhancement into the smallest steps that already make up some of the improvement. Hence, it was fine to file your separate steps as enhancement requests already. We will note the relation from the separate tasks to this overall task by using bugzilla's dependency feature below. bug#541021 "Want to print multiple invoices at one time " bug#643025 "RFE: Ability to select and open multiple invoices" And a word of warning here: As a volunteer-driven project with limited resources, the GnuCash developers have their own priorities about the features which are most likely being worked on in the near future. In that sense, I'm rather sure the current GnuCash developers do not have your ideas as top-priorities in the next 4-6 months. In case you would like to have this feature implemented in any case, you have the following option: 1. Start to program in gnucash yourself - see http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Development . 2. Convince someone who is not yet part of the GnuCash team to join the team and implement your feature. 3. Pay some of the GnuCash developers to implement your feature - ask on the mailing list gnucash-devel@gnucash.org in that case. Thank you very much.
