Log of Initial iPod sync, eject and re-sync

When synching my iPod, I notice that the last operation (adding 10 files to iPod) never actually considers itself finished (at 11:46 in log). I eventually ejected the iPod and re-inserted it, and noticed that my playlists only showed roughly half of the songs (however, the total song count was correct). I performed a second sync (at 12:07), and didn't really get any improvement, although I now had two unfinished progress bars for the last 10 tracks.

I've attached my log, but I'm not sure how much use it will be. I also noticed a problem where several songs were re-added (and re-transcoded), but I will raise a separate bug report for that.

These look related:

** (Banshee:3474): WARNING **: Unknown action (0x2000400) in smart playlist will be ignored.

** (Banshee:3474): WARNING **: Unknown smart rule action at 66134: 2000400. Trying to continue.

Some additional information what kind of iPod this is and how it is detected by the system might be helpful (see filing the bugs section):

That's the first time I've seen that page. Here is the requested info:

iPod Classic, Silver (80 GB)
Last 3 Digits of Serial number : Y5N
Firmware version: 1.1.2 PC

I could not find part/model in Preferences->About. There was no "About" tab or label in the Banshee preferences, and it was not in the Properties on the iPod device in the Banshee interface.

However, in the iPod's about menu, it listed the model as: MB029C. On the back of the iPod, it also says "Model Number", however it lists A1238. Hopefully the combination is what you are looking for.

Also, I am not sure the unknown smart rule is the cause, as ALL playlists are missing songs, not just smart playlists.

Is this related to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=636833 ?
Comment 6 Ryan Armstrong 2011-04-27 20:29:26 UTC
It's possible, but I am no longer using an iPod, and I'm not getting any missing songs with my Cowon J3. However, I am, on occasion, getting a progress bar that never finishes when performing a sync, so that part is probably separate.
Comment 7 Dave Wales 2011-05-01 17:35:41 UTC
Sounds like an issue with the ipod plugin then.

I am having the same problem with Banshee 2.1 and iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.0.2 on Ubuntu Linux x86_64 11.04. It does not happen always, but most of the time.

Is there anything I can be of help with?

Yes.

Can you post debug logs of banshee (2.2.1) when the bug happens? The ones we got are from version < 2.0.

Post also your version of libgpod please.

Thanks

Jaume, were you able to collect debug logs as requested in comment#9 ?
Comment 11 Jaume Sabater 2011-12-30 21:20:34 UTC
Sorry, I missed Andrés' comment. I no longer have such device, but I'll post the required information here if I manage to get hold of one.

I have an iPod, I'll try to duplicate this. Although it isn't generally the problem I have [for me changes don't seem to 'stick']
