Created attachment 175835 [details] Screen shot of error Banshee seems to think all the .m4a audio files on my iPhone are video files.
I think you may be experiencing a problem which is fixed by this post 1.9.0 commit. http://git.gnome.org/browse/banshee/commit/?id=49579ac3cb57aac7dc7239f539d8334da1f87093 Can you please test with a more recent version of Banshee such as the Banshee daily ppa? https://launchpad.net/~banshee-team/+archive/banshee-daily
I have been using the daily ppa for about 3 weeks now. Just updated to the newest build from that ppa and it's the same problem. Also my 160 gig iPod Classic does the same thing.
Please follow the instructions on this page from the "Filing bugs" section http://live.gnome.org/Banshee/LibgpodTransition
I'm also experiencing this problem. I upgraded to the daily ppa and still have the trouble. device: iPhone 3G, black, 8GB model: MB702LL firmware version: 4.1 serial: ***Y7H

Created attachment 176297 [details] udevadm info --export-db output output for device ***Y7H
Created attachment 176298 [details] gvfs-mount --list output output for device ***Y7H
Is it just an issue appearing in banshee UI ? Or are also the m4a files listed as video files on the ipod instead of music ?
only in the banshee UI. on the iPod and in amarok they are fine

@Gabriel: would you mind looking at this issue again? The fix for this issue is causing all video files to be discarded as music. I filed bug #648600 for this a while ago but it did not get a lot of love so far.
