GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 635731
Forwarded HTML mail turns into TXT
Last modified: 2010-11-25 21:36:37 UTC
Created attachment 175207 [details] HTML mail file in mbox format with headers snipped When I receive HTML mail with special formatting and pictures, I often want to forward the letter exactly as it appears on my screen to others. Yet, when I do "edit as new message", the images are lost and not forwarded. It would appear that the mailer knows that I prefer plain text, and forces my forwarded mail into that format. Yet, this does not make sense to me. As a user, my expectation is that when I forward HTML mail, it will remain as HTML mail. Likewise, I would be very surprised if my plain TXT mail were somehow forwarded as HTML mail. There is a work-around in that I can: 1. "edit as new message" 2. select "Format--> HTML" (which causes the pictures to reappear). This would seem to be a bug because it does not perform as a user would expect. This issue has been discussed on the evolution mailing list. The e-mail in question has been attached. Thanks.
