GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 632740
Empathy depends on NetworkManager for network connection status and doesn't natively detect the internet connectivity
Last modified: 2010-10-21 08:03:47 UTC
Empathy doesn't recognize computer's internet connectivity. It depends on NetworkManager's nm-applet for the connection status. In case nm-applet crashes or computer is connected to internet by using other Network manager's, Empathy wont go online. This is what I did. I connected to internet using wvial. That does not turn the nm-applet's online status(It is expected). Empathy reported No Network Connection. Whereas other applications Pidgin, Gwibber, Evolution naturally worked.
