Description Bastien Nocera 2010-10-12 17:37:51 UTC
The status icon feature from gnome-settings-daemon and gnome-control-center for changing monitor rotation status (though it was also intended to be for resolutions) recently got removed as it does not fit the shell.

We should consider whether to re-add support for it, and in which manner.
Comment 1 Federico Mena Quintero 2010-11-23 23:29:06 UTC
Owen and I discussed this on IRC today.

The simplest option is to have no icon at all. We can assume that the user will launch the capplet. We can try to be smart and reuse the same configuration as before if applicable.

See bug #630913 for the introspectification that would be necessary in the GnomeRR API.
Comment 2 Federico Mena Quintero 2010-11-23 23:32:44 UTC
See bug #634332 for discussion about gnome-shell and the Monitors icon.
Comment 3 Giovanni Campagna 2011-02-19 22:50:37 UTC
Bug 634332 is RESOLVED FIXED, and gnome-shell-extensions has an extension exactly for this.
