GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 630359
Unable to commit a translation
Last modified: 2010-11-23 14:04:50 UTC
Created attachment 170859 [details] German translation at 100% I've just tried to commit my updated translation. Got the following error message: <stdin>:650: 'msgstr' is not a valid Python format string, unlike 'msgid'. Reason: In the directive number 1, the character 'v' is not a valid conversion specifier. msgfmt: found 1 fatal error The mentioned string in line 650: #: ../pitivi/ui/encodingdialog.py:126 #, python-format msgid "0% rendered" msgstr "0% verarbeitet" As you can see, we have the same "variables" (percent signs) in msgstr and msgid. But it's unlikely a variable rather than a percentage of zero percents, isn't it? You should escape it in any way to prevent msgfmt from misunderstanding it.
For the time being, I've removed this string completely (including msgid and the leading comment) from the de.po and committed the file. No problems anymore. However, it doesn't fix this bug ;)
Can you try replacing that string in the code by "0%% rendered" and see if it fixes the issue ?
I haven't replaced it in the code, just in the de.po: #: ../pitivi/ui/encodingdialog.py:126 #, python-format msgid "0%% rendered" msgstr "0%% verarbeitet" Whether this breaks the build process, I don't know. But "msgfmt -vc" doesn't produce any error messages.
I've just pushed a fixed for this to master. commit 2d4beaf2454b61e9f1fee13037aefacb304d73d4 Author: Wouter Bolsterlee <wbolster@gnome.org> Date: Fri Oct 1 12:57:30 2010 +0200 i18n: Explicitly mark no-python-format string as such This fixes bug #630359.
