GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 629646
Use a chart as a template
Last modified: 2018-05-22 13:39:55 UTC
I have a lot of sheets where I have copied/pasted a graph and then changed datas to have the same graph to represent different dats. But when I want to change something in the style of a chart, I must change it x times in the other x charts. So my wish would be to be able to define a graph as a model for some others graphs so if I change something (excepted datas) in this one, the style (axes, background, scales, etc.) would be copied for the x others.
I'd say that for now, you can develop your own theme. Modifying the theme will change all graphs based on it, but only the next time you start gnumeric.
Created attachment 170554 [details] some diagram to explain
Well I am going to explain more with a real example. I work on some graphs for 20 cities. I made one first graph than I copy it to make the 19 others. That's ok. But my client say : I would prefer this or that on my graph... So I have to modify, one by one, my 20 graphs. If the 19 copies were "linked" to the first, i would just have to modify the mother one and the 19 children would copy without my intervention.
Just changing a color might be done with themes. But this will not be propagated to the charts until next gnumeric session.
