Description Benjamin Humphrey 2010-09-08 14:06:28 UTC
Scenario:

Bob gives Paul a pen drive with around 50 podcast episodes from a dozen artists, organized in folders, Artist > Season > Episodes.

Paul wants to add them into Banshee's "Podcasts" view so he can easily manage them and separate them from his music collection - after all, he doesn't want podcasts to start playing when he have my music on shuffle at a party!

Unfortunately for Paul, the only way to add podcasts into the "Podcast" section is to add the podcast feeds, which means he will have to track down all the podcast feeds and then re-download them all. The only option Paul has is to click Media > Import Folder and add them manually, but then Banshee adds them to his music collection.

Paul is sad because:

1. His podcasts aren't separated from his music in the section called "Podcasts" - they're lost amongst his music.

2. Podcasts start playing when he's shuffling through his music collection at a party, which could be quite embarrassing for Paul.

3. The podcast metadata isn't working properly, so even if he knows who made the podcast, it's very hard for him to search for it amongst his music collection.

Solution? Add the ability to do one (or more) of the following:

1. When in in the "Podcasts" view, have a menu entry that lets Paul add a podcasts folder to Banshee.

2. Allow drag and dropping of audio files into the podcast view from both the rest of the operating system and also from the music collection.

3. Add an button in the podcast toolbar to automatically scan Paul's home directory and external media for podcast files looking for keywords and then add them into his podcast list.
