GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 628835
Show tree lines from expander when using threaded view
Last modified: 2021-05-19 11:31:49 UTC
It would make reading emails grouped by threads much more usable if tree-lines are drawn from the expander icons (little triangles clicking on which the thread opens/collapses). At the moment it becomes a little difficult to keep track of the thread if it runs too deep and into many mails. On a related note (but perhaps this is a different bug report), the wide view looks quite bad when messages are grouped by threads because of the lack of proper indentation of the sender field. If tree-lines are indeed added, the wide-view would work only if the sender name is indented the same amount as the subject of the mail, when messages are grouped by threads.
Do you mean something like https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216271#c5 ?
(In reply to comment #1) > Do you mean something like https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216271#c5 > ? Not really. I only want to see the expander icons (which already exist in the threaded view) to be connected by dotted lines so that it is easier to understand the thread an email belongs to. Only as much as setting this to true (or similar implementation) http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/stable/GtkTreeView.html#gtk-tree-view-set-enable-tree-lines
Just to add, this is not a request for a new column that toggles threaded view in any way, just to improve the way threaded view looks once it is enabled. The request holds whether or not bug 216271 is implemented in the future.
Any progress here? Please let me know if there is any way I can be of help. Thanks
Ping
Threaded messages still make for messy reading in Evolution 3.0.1 that I am using. I am sorry for the empty noise, but it would help to know if there is at least any status for this bug report other than ignored? Thanks
Ping??? Still the same.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new enhancement request ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
