GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 624617
Install translate-toolkit on l10n.gnome.org
Last modified: 2012-05-23 13:28:03 UTC
There is currently a project to translate some movie subtitles (e.g. Guadec videos) using l10n.gnome.org infrastructure. The translate-toolkit contains a tool to convert subtitle files in po files. I'd like to use this tool. Anyway, there might be other quality-control tools useful for Damned-Lies in this great toolkit.
There seems to be some packaging problem with translate-toolkit in Ubuntu 10.04. Let's have some counsel from authors/maintainers before proceeding...
Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat Alpha (2) provides Translate Toolkit 1.5.3-1ubuntu1 (latest version 1.7.0) and Gaupol (and python-aeidon) 0.16.2-2 (latest version 0.17). Debian unstable provides Translate Toolkit 1.5.3-1 and Gaupol (and python-aeidon) 0.17-1. I'll file bugs to get newer versions in Ubuntu (and possibly Debian) to get the newer versions in the repositories. That should fix the problems.
I tried to add at http://l10n.gnome.org/module/video-subtitles/ but then realised that damned-lies really needs to be able to generate PO files. The stub module details are at http://l10n.gnome.org/module/video-subtitles/ I removed the branch details for now.
The current HEAD of Translate Toolkit tries first to use python-aeidon, and then uses Gaupol if it can't find aeidon. I was planning to port it myself, but I was too late.
