Description Shaun McCance 2010-05-31 19:22:54 UTC
In 2.30, if you choose View->By Unicode Block, the Unicode blocks are now sorted alphabetically, rather than by their code points. I don't always know the exact names of blocks that gucharmap uses, but I do not the relative positions of the blocks pretty well. I find this new sorting to be far less useful than the old behavior. Please provide a way to get the old behavior back.

I moved from sorting the model directly to letting the tree view column do the sorting, but once sorted it appears there's no way to get it unsorted again by used interaction...

Maybe adding a Block Code column to the tree (hex of the block), making it the default ordering option. This would let the user switch to alphabetic ordering by clicking the Block Name column.

Hi, anything new on this bug?
Comment 9 Jonathan W 2012-02-18 07:07:29 UTC
This bug has been annoying me for at least as long as the bug report has been around :( What Behnam suggest is exactly what I've had in mind for a solution. It would be excellent if the devs could confirm this bug, even as just an annoyance.

I'm going to try my best not to overstate how I feel about this bug.

This problem is destroying my ability to use this program in a meaningful way.

Agreed. Fixit please!
Comment 12 Christian Persch 2014-12-13 19:30:58 UTC
Sigh. Alright then…
