Description Hammer Attila 2010-05-25 06:19:24 UTC
Dear Developers,

When I editing a document with Openoffice.org Writer, and the caret positioning a hiperlink containing line in a document, Orca does'nt spokening the hiperlink containing line.
The reproducation is very easy this issue:
1. Make a document with containing both normal lines and hiperlinks. If need, you need insert hiperlinks with the document.
2. Try navigating the document for example the Up and Down arrow keys. If you reproduced this bug, you not hear the hiperlink containing line.

I maked a debug.out file with showing possible what the problem. In debug.out file, I see following traceback error message, possible this is help you determining why happening this problem:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  • File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orca/focus_tracking_presenter.py", line 709 in _processObjectEvent
    s.processObjectEvent(event)
  • File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orca/script.py", line 383 in processObjectEvent
    self.listeners[key](event)
  • File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orca/scripts/apps/soffice/script.py", line 2139 in onCaretMoved
    default.Script.onCaretMoved(self, event)
  • File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orca/default.py", line 2942 in onCaretMoved
    self._presentTextAtNewCaretPosition(event)
  • File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orca/default.py", line 3791 in _presentTextAtNewCaretPosition
    self.sayLine(obj)
  • File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orca/default.py", line 4419 in sayLine
    line = self.utilities.adjustForLinks(obj, line, startOffset)
  • File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orca/script_utilities.py", line 2384 in adjustForLinks
    return "".join(adjustedLine).encode("UTF-8")
UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 0: unexpected end of data

I using Ubuntu 10.04, Openoffice.org 3.2 and Orca git master version with latest updates, but I see this problem both Orca 2.30 and Orca git master versions.

This debug.out possible shows what the problem.

For example, Orca following line not spokening my html formatted document, this line is a hiperlink line:
•A mostani BeLin verzió újdonságai

Braille output is right sent I think the debug.out shows this, but the spokening output task is not happened.

Ugh. That's no good. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Attila, I've tried to reproduce this problem in OOo 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3 using OpenSolaris and Ubuntu (well, technically, Linux Mint. But it's Ubuntu-based).

I added a hyperlink and arrowed into and out of it. No problem. I even made the text the same as your text. No problem. The only thing I'm seeing with links is that we're treating the last character as not being part of the link. But that's a different issue and is not resulting in a traceback.

Therefore, could you please attach the document you're using to reproduce this problem? Thanks!

Hy Joanie,

Thanks Attila!

As the new summary indicates, it turns out that it only happens when using a locale where the word for 'link' has an accented character. My apologies for not trying the Hungarian locale before asking you for the document!

Regardless, it's now fixed in both master and the gnome-2-30 branch (which means, yes, it will go into the 2.30.2 release <smile>).

Thanks for the report and detailed information!

Joanie, I would like thank you this wonderful fix. Now, I have a wornderful accessible way to edit this HTML style documents in OO Writer and do correction operations (checking links with the document for example) with a hungarian documentation.
Thank you both the master and 2.30 branch commit.
Sorry if I always ask a change possible commit with the 2.30 branch or not in a bugreport. :-):-)
I ask this always because I would like known only a resolved bug fix are possible to commit or not the 2.30 branch if a hungarian visual impaired user ask me a bug report fix status, for example the break child position related bug, etc.

So, thank you very mutch this fix, this fix help lot of hungarian visual impaired users with Openoffice.org use.
