GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 612602
After searching in Calendar, 'List View' button does not work
Last modified: 2014-12-09 15:31:41 UTC
Forwarding from a Fedora bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=568894 Description of problem: I'm trying to search for several calendar events occurring in multiple months. I'm getting the feeling it might be impossible in Evolution. I tried clicking on the "List View" button, but it does nothing. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): evolution-2.28.2-1.fc12.x86_64
Confirming. This seems broken even in 2.29. Not clear how to extend the search range beyond one month. Also in 2.29, executing a search doesn't automatically switch to list view.
(In reply to comment #1) > Also in 2.29, executing a search doesn't automatically switch to list view. Er, well, then again maybe it's not supposed to. Searching in month view, for example, only shows events for that month that match the search criteria. Need some clarification from the calendar devs on how this is supposed to work...
evolution doesn't support search beyond month view. Not sure but see bug 584143 for an enhancement patch There is a long pending request for multiple month view, bug 218717
It seems like adding a search criteria for a time range may work, as I noticed the gnome-cal is checking for time range searches, and if set, the left-bottom calendar is hidden, and maybe the list view shown as this functionality is only for a list view.
Quick note just to confirm that searching in list view is currently restricted to one month only. Steps to reproduce: * Switch to calendar. (View -> Window -> Calendars) * Switch to month view. (View -> Current View -> Month View) * Add an appointment on 4-May-2010 called "RBA interest rate decision". * Add another appointment on 1-June-2010 also called "RBA interest rate decision". * In the "summary contains" search box, type "RBA" and press enter. * Scroll the calendar and observe that that 2 appointments added previously match / are visible. * Select a date in May (e.g. click on 6-May-2010, by going "Go To -> May -> 2010 -> 6") * Go View -> Current View -> List view. * Observe that only one item appears in the list view, not two. The one that appears is the one from 4-May-2010. Above happens on Evo 2.28.1, with a local calendar. From a user's perspective, all matching results in the calendar when using the list view is what most users would expect.
Let's mark this as a duplicate of bug #584143, which is fixed for couple releases now. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 584143 ***
