Description Götz Waschk 2010-02-28 11:39:16 UTC
This is on Mandriva cooker with gnome-icon-theme 2.29.0. On startup, mail-notification shows these warnings:

(mail-notification:6642): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'stock_inbox' for stock: Symbol »stock_inbox« nicht im Thema vorhanden

(mail-notification:6642): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'stock_mail' for stock: Symbol »stock_mail« nicht im Thema vorhanden

The notification area icons of mail-notification show the "broken icon" symbol now.

Lapo, what do we do with the deprecated stock icons?

I would suggest the following process -- extend the naming spec for the following status icons:
- mail-message

places:
- message-inbox
- message-outbox

Then icon-naming-utils needs to be updated to add the mappings

stock-mail > mail-message
stock-inbox > message-inbox
Comment 2 Jakub Steiner 2010-02-28 16:19:37 UTC
turns out there are already mail-read and mail-unread icons in the spec. So stock-mail should probably point to mail-unread.
Comment 3 Lapo Calamandrei 2010-03-22 14:23:12 UTC
Indeed, I'd add inbox and outbox icons, we need proper names tho. I won't call them message-inbox/outbox but something more generic, what about user-inbox, user-outbox?
Comment 4 Frederic Crozat 2010-04-16 10:03:40 UTC
stock_unknown is also missing
Comment 5 Jakub Steiner 2010-04-16 23:06:56 UTC
What application and in what context is stock_unknown being used?
Comment 6 Frederic Crozat 2010-04-19 08:19:00 UTC
mail notification is using stock_unknown to have an icon in their "choose mail provider" combobox, for the default "unchoosen" provider (between, IMAP / POP3 / Gmail / Yahoo! etc..)

I've added these to http://live.gnome.org/action/edit/GnomeArt/Icons/NamingSpec

Scrap that, we're removing mapping support in 3.0.

Resetting assignee to default to avoid cookie-licking (see bug 744024).

Jimmac: If you actively and realistically plan to work on this, please set yourself as assignee again so this ticket will be shown on top of your user page at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/page.cgi?id=describeuser.html

Thanks!

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all older bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a while.

If you still use adwaita-icon-theme and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a recent and currently supported version, then please feel free to report it at
