Proposed fix

Since no port number is mentioned for Freenode it is impossible to use SSL connections without modifying the configuration. This is because the default SSL port is 9999 which does not work with Freenode.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
