Description Harald Boehmecke 2010-01-19 08:17:03 UTC
When looking up contacts on the Global Address List, "Searching..." is displayed at the bottom left, and after aprox. 1-2 minutes I get a result. This is not acceptable. What has changed? This was not an issue before...

Let me know what further information you need. Here the basics:

NOTE: This is for the first search. Further searches are quicker (5-10 secs).
Comment 2 Harald Boehmecke 2010-03-17 12:33:05 UTC
This is getting worse. Queries sometimes take more than 5 minutes. This was not an issue before!
Comment 3 Harald Boehmecke 2010-03-25 10:08:02 UTC
bummer. Anyone?
Comment 4 Harald Boehmecke 2010-04-01 06:48:42 UTC
Also, when going to the GAL Address Book Properties, and selecting "Copy book content locally for offline operation", there are no speed changes. Queries take from 3 to 5-7 minutes, after which I get the results AND regardless if the above option is selected or not, an error message pops up stating: "Unable to perform search." with the following description below:"The time to execute this query exceeded the server limit or the limit
configured for this address book. Please make your search
more specific or raise the time limit in the directory server
preferences for this address book."

This is annoying.

Hi guys, its been 3 months since I posted this BUG. This is very discouraging...
Comment 6 Harald Boehmecke 2010-05-10 07:16:52 UTC
Hi, Version 2.28.3 shows some improvements. Although it takes a while for the first contact to be queried, the successive queries show up within a second.

Nickname searches lead to an everlasting search. Please see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=604709

Harald

Hi, I am experiencing slow GAL queries again with the last update. I know we have a BIG Address List, but please try to create new Indexes or whatever to make searches quicker. I have been using Outlook in a VM to search contacts because I can't wait 4-5 minutes for Evolution to search a contact!

Thanks

I am closing all my "ignored and never looked at" bugs. Been patient for more than 3 years for an answer.
