Created attachment 150780 [details] Capture of the Open window with folder list blank With version 1.9.16 on Windows XP SP3, the folders list appears blanck when openning windows Open, Save or Save As. When the mouse cursour pass through le list, the folders appear.
Since "When the mouse cursour pass through le list, the folders appear.", this is surely bug 503667. Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 603667 ***
This is not the same bug at all. What happens here is that the programs link (the shortcut to the exe) sets "C:\Program Files\Gnumeric\1.9.16\bin" as the working path (or folder). Since there are no spreadsheets in that folder, it shows a blank list when you try to Open or Save. Nicolas, you can change this in the lnk file by pointing the "Start in" path to your work folder
Pedro: I think you missed Nicholas sentence that: "When the mouse cursour pass through le list, the folders appear." His report is not about the default path but that the names of the _folders_ that exist in that location are invisible until caused to be rerendered!
I read that sentence. But I'm not sure if that is what he meant... In any case, on my PC (Win XP SP3) I have no rendering problems in any dialog box but I do have the tab text bug. So it is probably not related...
bug 603667 is about tabs bug 603718 is about various dialogs this bug is about the file chooser These are all about text disappearing in the interface. It seems tha different users see different versions. I sould be very surprised if they do not have a common core.

Thank you for your replies. Pedro Lino : I try to to set the Start In path to my work folder but the bug is still there. Anyway, this solution doesn't work when you open the files directly in file explorer (Windows extensions association). This bug doe not exist in version 1.9.10 (witch is the previous version I used). I'm not sure this bug is the same as bug 603667 because I doesn't have problems with tabs (I try Jeffrey Ross description).
