Description Christian Persch 2009-11-13 21:21:12 UTC
Filing this is www.gnome.org, but it also affects planet.g.o etc.

Upon visiting www.gnome.org, webstats.gnome.org tries to set a cookie. However, there is no privacy policy linked anywhere on www.g.o. There should be one, detailing which data is collected about visitors, and what the cookie is used for.

Privacy Policy

Attached is a first draft of a privacy policy. (The Snowy team needs one as well in Bug 613980) This borrows heavily from Automattic, Inc. and StatusNet Inc., both of whom's privacy policies are licensed under a CC license.

I will forward this to the Board and the legal list.

Oops, linked to the wrong bug above - should be Bug 613890

What's the status on this? I'm happy to implement this on a page and link to it in the footer.

See https://wiki.gnome.org/Foundation/Privacy for a WIP. There are a couple of issues to iron out before it's ready involving who has access to the servers, but it shouldn't be long before it is finished.
