GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 590286
Use buttons for view selector
Last modified: 2010-07-05 11:35:47 UTC
this report has been filed here: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/389705 "The View Selector on the left and right panes is a little bit time consuming to use because of the dropdown design. The usability would be greatly enhanced with these options could be activated by a single click. Currently the top of the left pane side view is a huge drop down box. The area used to host the dropdown should be used to put icons so that different side pane view can be selected in a 1 click fashion. Candidates to be iconized are Treeview and Places. Ideally History and Bookmark should have an icon there too. As they Bookmark and History usually display a list of items, these items will be opened in a dropdown list below the icon. The other less frequently used item (Information, Emblem, etc) can either be iconized to or still remain in a dropdown as before. Like wise, the "List View" dropdown on the right pane should also be iconized. There should be 3 icons: Detail view, Compact View, Icon view." Thanks,
Thanks for the bug report. This request covers two issues - using buttons for the view selector and for side pane mode selection. The view selector is a possibility, but the side pane mode would be tricky to do. I'm restricting this report to cover the view selector bug, therefore. Please submit a separate report for the side pane issue, if you would like to see it addressed. Please restrict bug reports to single issues in future. ;)
