Description Samuel G 2009-07-21 01:45:58 UTC
I'm a semi-professional photographer who (generally) happily uses Eye of GNOME to go through collections of photos I've taken.

My workflow mainly consists of viewing large numbers of often duplicate shots that vary only slightly. These slight differences, however, determine which ones I end up salvaging and which ones I ignore.

It would be great to somehow "star" good shots that I want to mark for later review, much like Gmail's star feature or Nautilus emblems that allow users to sort items based on arbitrary user-set values.
Comment 1 Alessio Bolognino 2011-03-18 20:47:29 UTC
Ideally EOG should be able to set emblems recognized by Nautilus, there is a "favorite" emblem that would be perfect for this.

EOG is a simple image viewer. For managing collections/rating/sorting there are better alternatives out there, check out shotwell, gthumb, digikam... EOG has no photo library management capabilities, and I don't think it should.

Just a note on this:

Nautilus doesn't support emblems anymore and thus the "embleming" would be limited to eog.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/eog/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
