Description Brian J. Murrell 2009-06-20 17:58:06 UTC
Running 2.26.1, there is still at least one bug in there in which unread mail vfolders are not showing *all* unread articles.

Case in point. I have an unread mail folder which is comprised of a number of imap folders as well as rss folders as well as another vfolder which itself is comprised of a number of nntp folders.

The nntp containing vfolder is called "vfolder:newsgroups/active" and when I go check that vfolder I see unread messages which are not visible in the vfolder containing "vfolder:newsgroups/active".

I don't think this is the only instance I have seen of this sort of bug. I feel I have seen it quite a number of times in the recent past (i.e. on 2.26.1) but I have not been sure enough to file a bug report about it. Now I am absolutely positive.

I am marking this critical as this has been going on and on and on for far too long and it needs to be resolved once and for all.

I remember seeing a bug from you on nntp, not visible in vfolders? bug #576398 Is that gone then?

Hrm. I wonder if these two are related. I can say that I have some vfolders which include nntp folders that I thought were working flawlessly, but perhaps I was just not reconciling vfolders and their nntp folders closely enough to notice that messages were still not showing up.

> Is that gone then?

I think that's unclear still.

What I can say currently is that I have vfolders that show nntp messages that other vfolders don't show.

This continues to happen to this day. I go to my real mail folders and see messages that are not in the vfolders.

Has there been any progress on this issue? vfolders have been broken for waaaay too long now and there appears to be no action on resolving the issues.

Evolution was not running for the whole night and as I knew would happen, all of the e-mail that arrived during that time is not showing up in my unread vfolder(s).

This problem is soooo extremely easy to reproduce! Why is it not being worked on?

And wow! The number of bugs with the evolution[vfolders] keyword in it's whiteboard is still quite staggering! Has this feature and all of these bugs simply been abandoned?

This can be caused by out-of-sync for a vfolder summary and folders. As far as I can tell the removal of ~/.local/share/evolution/mail/vfolder and new run of evolution fixes it, especially with changes from bug #562912, though those are not directly related to this issue.

Are you using evolution again, or you've still hands off it? I'm asking as some testing on real data are always appreciated.

Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided.
Please feel free to reopen the bug if the problem still occurs with a newer
version of Evolution 3.0.3 or 3.2.0 or later, thanks.
