GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579785
screen resolution panel applet should provide direct access to MRU screen resolutions
Last modified: 2010-10-13 18:03:49 UTC
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center Feature Request: The Gnome panel applet that is turned on by the "Monitor Resolution Settings" dialog should allow the user to switch screen resolutions directly from its drop-down menu. Presently, it allows for choosing monitor Rotation and flipping for internal and external monitors. I would argue that these choices are of a lower priority than changing which screens are actually set to be on and at what resolution(s). I use a laptop with support for external VGA. I often plug prefer to plug my laptop into external monitors. Linux machname 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 22:15:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux Gnome 2.24.1 $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 Derived from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/321723
The status icon (not applet) is part of gnome-settings-daemon.
The status icon for resolutions was removed from gnome-settings-daemon for gnome 3. See bug 631995 if you're interested in the feature itself.
