GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579024
Gnome does not recognise monitor that Xorg does
Last modified: 2009-06-16 23:45:43 UTC
Please describe the problem: Using Gnome System -> Preferences -> Display this monitor is reported as "Unknown". /etc/X11/xorg.conf /var/log/Xorg.0.log and monitor-edid all identify it. [root@localhost log]# monitor-edid --MonitorsDB VSC; VSC VX2235wm; VSC591e; 30-82; 50-75; 1680x1050 [root@localhost log]# grep VSC Xorg.0.log (II) NV(0): Manufacturer: VSC Model: 591e Serial#: 16843009 (II) NV(0): EDID vendor "VSC", prod id 22814 [root@localhost log]# grep VX !$ grep VX /etc/X11/xorg.conf ModelName "VX2235wm" The resolution is correctly determined. The monitor is connected via its analogue port rather than its digital port. Steps to reproduce: 1. System -> Preferences -> Display Actual results: The word "unknown" pops up. Expected results: The model name of the monitor should pop up. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information: No.
