Description Robert Ancell 2009-04-06 03:15:06 UTC
While it useful that the application keyboard shortcuts are disabled by default (bug 485317) this leads to some confusion for first time users.

Some things that may help:

- Rewording of the preferences item - it currently says "Show menu shortcuts" which is misleading. Consider something like "Allow keyboard shortcuts", i.e. emphasise this is all keyboard shortcuts and they are both visible and usable.

- Some information in the help documentation about what is disabled, why and how to enable them.

- Perhaps consider a first-time dialog that says "Keyboard shortcuts disabled by default. <rationale>. You can enable these in the preferences". This seems important in the case of vinagre as it behaves differently to most GNOME applications in this regard.

It's worth mentioning that in the default configuration (i.e. no keyboard shortcuts) it becomes impossible to exit fullscreen mode once it has been entered. The only real options are either killing the X server with ctrl+alt+backspace or switching to a virtual terminal and killing vinagre from there. IMO not very user friendly.

what about just move the mouse to the top of the [full]screen?

I hadn't realised that was possible. Please ignore my earlier comment :)
