Description David Nielsen 2009-03-25 11:56:06 UTC
Please describe the problem:
The Sansa Fuze supports podcasts and audiobooks, it seems that this is based on the genre tag (at least audiobooks with the genre set to Audiobook went to the audiobook folder).

It also supports video which would be nice to have working along with correct transcoding.

Podcasts go in the podcast section if the genre is set. However there are a number of issues to make Banshee really rock for this player.
Comment 2 Gabriel Burt 2009-04-30 00:56:09 UTC
What is the real point of this bug? To automatically set the genre for Podcasts to "Podcast" when transferring to DAPs? Please file separate bugs for logically separate features.

Haha, I'm so sorry, I hadn't looked at the 'depends on' list. :)

Forget the genre tag, on the Sansa Fuze (and the Sansa Clip, and maybe other Sansas) you need to put podcasts in the PODCASTS/ folder and music in the MUSIC/ folder.

Right now banshee puts podcasts in the MUSIC/Podcasts/ folder. Those podcasts get played when you try to play all the music. If all the podcasts are in the PODCASTS directory then you can shuffle your music without playing any podcasts.

I'm not sure, but on the μSD card the MUSIC/ directory may be expected to have a copy of the internal storage's folder structure, e.g. MUSIC/MUSIC/, MUSIC/PODCASTS, MUSIC/AUDIOBOOKS etc., in other words, on the internal storage podcasts go into PODCASTS/, on the card podcasts go into MUSIC/PODCASTS/.
Comment 5 David Nielsen 2009-09-09 15:53:51 UTC
Daniel, this is a tracker bug, it is intended to tally up different bugs that affect Sansa Fuze support, not one large complaint of different broken or missing features.

You need to open a specific bug for that problem and make it block this one instead.

On my Fuze though, if the genre is set to podcast it ends up in the interface under the music->podcasts entry and do not interfere with music. The same for audiobooks so I think this only applies to the Clip or possibly devices not set to MTP (I never tried MSC now that I think about it).
Comment 6 Daniel Holth 2009-09-09 15:56:02 UTC
I will open a bug about Sansas in MSC mode. I might use MTP mode but banshee on Ubuntu 8.10 copies one file and then totally locks up.

Bulk changing the assignee to banshee-maint@gnome.bugs to make it easier for people to get updated on all banshee bugs by following that address. It's usually quite apparent who is working on a given bug by the comments and/or patches attached.

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
