Description Marcel Stimberg 2009-02-28 16:13:53 UTC
In the calendar's month view, pressing page up/down keys scrolls by about one month. Sometimes it does skip a week in the process, which may lead to not noticing events in the respective week.

Example: My calendar displays 23 Feb to 5 Apr 2009, if I press page up, it displays 29 Dec to 8 Feb (completely skipping 9 Feb to 22 Feb).

This seems to be related to the issue of scrolling in general (bug 273818) and is mentioned there already in comment 5. I would rather like to see that one fixed, too... but it should anyway be possible to use page up/down to scroll through the calendar without missing any days.

bug #273818 had been fixed recently. Unfortunately, I do not think this is fixable in general, as of some rounding issues. Maybe I just didn't get your request?

Hi,
sorry for taking so long to respond (I wanted to try it with current master and it took me a while to get jhbuild working...). Anyway, the problem still exists although it goes away if you switch to weekly scrolling (but see my comment at bug #273818 why this is not good :-/)

To restate the problem: If you use the page up/down buttons (with the old monthly scrolling setting) to scroll the calendar view by about a month, you sometimes skip days. Therefore, if e.g. you want to cursory check your appointments for the next months or past events, you might miss some (see example dates in my initial report) if you use the cursor keys for scrolling.

I think the best fix would be if the page up/down key would just do exactly the same thing as the backward/forward button in the toolbar. Actually, that would also fix my problem with the solution to bug #273818 :-)

I agree, it makes sense to have PageUp/Down scrolling by a month always. Let me investigate more some time later.
Comment 5 Akhil Laddha 2009-08-28 07:44:52 UTC
bug 207071 looks related
Comment 6 Milan Crha 2010-03-26 16:42:49 UTC
I'm setting this to 2.30 and marking as gnome-love, to offer it for other people.
Comment 7 parthasarathi susarla 2012-02-09 11:08:27 UTC
with the latest 3.3.9, this bug is no longer valid.
Comment 8 André Klapper 2012-08-08 11:36:52 UTC
This is fixed in 3.2.3, pressing PgUp/PgDn scrolls by exactly one week.
