Description Juri Pakaste 2009-01-31 11:40:33 UTC
It seems the compilation support doesn't work out quite right with compilation albums that contain tracks by the compilation artist.

For example, the Lost in Space soundtrack (yeah, I know… it was cheap and a long time ago) gets the album artist Bruce Broughton from MusicBrainz. The first 9 tracks are by various artists and 10 last by Broughton himself. Here's the MusicBrainz page for it: http://musicbrainz.org/release/77d3402a-b04c-49a2-88df-12c337226a6f.html

In the Album list view (the thing with the album covers, second from the left), I get two Lost in Space / Bruce Broughton albums. And when I enter the track information editor for one of the nine first tracks, the compilation artist field is enabled and the check box marked. For the last ten tracks by Broughton, the checkbox isn't checked and the text field is disabled although it contains the right text.

It seems I can set things right by checking the checkbox on the Broughton authored tracks, but Banshee should get this right based on the metadata.

Here's what metaflac --list says about the first track:

Are you sure you're running 1.4.2 ?

I'm asking for confirmation because your problem seems similar to bug #557313, which was fixed in 1.4.2.
Comment 2 Juri Pakaste 2009-01-31 14:50:47 UTC
Yeah, it certainly sounds similar. However, it does say in the about box it's 1.4.2. This is a Ubuntu Intrepid system, and the package is 1.4.2-1~intrepid1 from the Banshee PPA at https://edge.launchpad.net/~banshee-team/+archive/ppa .
Comment 3 Gabriel Burt 2009-02-17 18:08:10 UTC
The fix for bug #557313 isn't retroactive - can you try reimporting and see if they're imported correctly?

Thanks, reimport worked right. I guess this was a dupe after all.
