Description joe oettinger 2009-01-26 13:40:28 UTC
Have the sidebar invariably appear when f-spot launches. On my Hp pavilion ze4900 laptop running Ubuntu Ibex, even pressing f9 didn't produce the sidebar. The window just jiggled a bit, as though it were trying to open the sidebar. I had to unmaximize the window and drag the left edge to the right for f9 to work.

Also, having both edit and edit image is confusing. Maybe an item in the edit drop-down menu could be edit image.

Other information:
I really appreciate the great work the developers have put into developing f-spot. I hope the above helps more people to use the program. When I googled "f-spot image editing doesn't work" (or something like that) I found a few entries by people not finding the edit tools. Thanks again for your work.

The original summary for this bug was longer than 255 characters, and so it was truncated when Bugzilla was upgraded. The original summary was:

On at least some computers, the sidebar doesn't appear when f-spot is first launched. So a new user hasn't a clue where to find the image editing tools (red-eye etc). When the user clicks edit image the edit tools don't appear (because there's no sidebar for them to appear in).
