"The sidebar in F-Spot is enabled by default, but is not visible. You have to drag it across to see it properly. But you would only know to do this if you know what the sidebar is.

This needs resizing by default so a new user can see it straight away"

I cannot see the sidebar on a fully-updated Ubuntu Jaunty.  It was so slim I missed it.

open a bug on launchpad, it has been fixed in f-spot.
