GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 554091
gnome-terminal doesn't render hindi fonts correctly
Last modified: 2008-10-05 11:20:11 UTC
Please describe the problem: gnome-terminal doesn't render the character "कि" correctly. All other gnome applications work correctly. Gnome-terminal puts the vertical bar on the left side, rather than the right side. Details: This character, often transliterated as "ki", is a combination of the character "ka", which is "क", with an "-i" decoration, much like e is decorated with ' to get é in latin languages. Gnome-terminal incorrectly adds the decoration to the right side, when it should be on the left. Steps to reproduce: cut & paste "कि" into gnome-terminal Actual results: it's rendered incorrectly. Expected results: render the same as other gnome applications (like gedit, xchat, etc.) Does this happen every time? yes Other information:
some versions: ii libpango1.0-0 1.20.5-0ubuntu1 ii gnome-terminal 2.22.1-0ubuntu2

Dup of bug 553871 ?
Yes, looks like a duplicate. The bugzilla search tool doesn't work, so I couldn't look for duplicates. It's been down for a week?!
