GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 553871
देवनागरी font rendering in terminal vs gedit
Last modified: 2008-11-29 06:57:47 UTC
Please describe the problem: Is there anyway to get terminal applications to render देवनागरी fonts in the same way as gedit? My goal is to be able to write emails in mutt/vim. Screen shot of the problem: http://ifup.org/~philips/hello-hindi.png Notice the space between the consonant cluster स्ते vs स ते. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a terminal 2. Paste in स्ते 3. Now there is a space! Actual results: स्ते is rendered as स ते Expected results: स्ते rendered as स्ते Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:
Note: This is on OpenSuSE 11.0. If this bug is fixed in the latest GNOME please close it. Also, vte doesn't have any way of getting a version number. Thanks, Brandon
Nah, no plans to fix this currently. It' not easy.
What isn't easy about it? I wouldn't mind hacking on the bug if I had a bit of direction on what is going on. Thanks, Brandon
