Description Travis Reitter 2008-06-23 16:24:44 UTC
It would be very useful for the IRC account editor to include a field for the nickserv identity password (so you don't have to manually enter it each time you connect to an IRC server).
Comment 1 Guillaume Desmottes 2008-06-24 08:49:58 UTC
telepathy-idle needs a parameter to manage that.

Comment 4 Guillaume Desmottes 2009-06-10 12:31:43 UTC
Confirming the bug as Empathy's IRC widget will have to be modified once the Idle bug is fixed.
Comment 5 Will Thompson 2009-11-04 17:53:22 UTC
Note that at least Freenode treats the server password, if set, as your NickServ password, so you may be able to work around this for now.

I was going to file a bug about how OFTC's NickServ doesn't automatically get the password but freenode's NickServ does, but this bug appears to express the same concept I'm seeing and the end result will be the same. Please fix?
Comment 8 John Doe 2012-08-28 18:19:50 UTC
I'm trying Emphathy for the first time. I'd like to connect to Freenode and use its Nickserv service in order to authenticate, but it fails without any useful error message. I tried at opening the debug windows, but I don't know what to look for.

My question is: is now Nickserv implemented in Empathy/Telepathy, as Empathy FAQ and the presence of a password field seems to imply? Or the term "password" has a different meaning here than "nickserv"?

Thank you.
